The PERRIN manual boost controller is a simple inline device that allows the customer to adjust boost simply by shortening or lengthening the Boost controller body. Some boost controllers use a simple adjustable bleeder (similar to a jet on a carburetor, if you can remember that far back) and while this can control boost, these generally provide a falling boost curve. These systems can't adjust for more volume of air as the turbo starts to push more air. Some boost controllers use a ball and spring only, which again can control boost, but can cause boost spikes (Boost spikes are bad!). The PERRIN Manual Boost controller has both built into it!
The Ball and Spring portion of Perrin's Boost controller holds boost pressure (until the set point) from getting to the wastegate actuator. This makes for a super responsive turbo. As the pressure exceeds the set point, the ball lifts and lets pressure to the wastegate actuator. The next feature of Perrin's manual boost controller comes into play, the bleed hole. The bleed hole helps control the falling boost curve by helping deal with the added volume of air as RPM's increase.
